The Griffins had a successful day at WVU on Sunday where they took home Reserve Highpoint Team out of 13 other schools with a total of 30 points.  Senior Alexandra Kemp-Thompson added a combined 9 points to the team total after placing 2nd in the Open Equitation Over Fences & 3rd in Open Equitation on the Flat.  Junior Taylor Jansen captured her second victory of the season in the Intermediate Equitation Over Fences class adding 7 points to the board.  It was also the first competition of the season for two young griffs; freshman Maggie Carty placed 3rd in Novice Equitation Over Fences and sophomore Laekyn Sanders was 2nd in Novice Equitation on the Flat.  Senior Erica McCarthy who pointed in to Intermediate Equitation on the Flat last week had a solid ride, finishing 2nd and adding 5 team points.  Freshman Brooke Hebrank rode to her first victory in the Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation and Abigail Burkhardt added 4 team points claiming 3rd in the Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation.  The day was finished with an exceptional ride from sophomore Lauren DeCarli who placed 2nd in the Walk/Trot Equitation class, with this finish DeCarli will also qualify for Regionals in the spring at OU.  Currently the Griffin team sits ranked 1st regionally with 94 points after 3 horse shows, sitting behind them are WVU with 88 points and Allegheny College with 68.  The team will travel to OU on the weekend of November 10th and 11th to compete in 2 shows to round out their fall season.
