It was Kristallnacht, or the “Night of Broken Glass,” on the night of November 9-10, 1938 which signaled the beginning of overt violence toward Jews by Nazis. Featured speaker Fritz Ottenheimer, author of Escape and Return, experienced first-hand the devastation of Kristallnacht. He fled Germany with his family at the beginning of the war only to return as a U.S. soldier before the war’s end. Also participating in the service are Holocaust survivors Shulamit Bastacky, Bob Mendler, Jack Sittsamer and Sam Weinreb.

Volunteers are needed to participate in the service as readers, candle lighters, cantors, musicians and ushers. To volunteer, contact Marilyn Fox in Campus Ministry at extensions 4501 or Kate Ward in the Holocaust Education Center at extension 1855.
