Kimberley Bassi-Cook, coordinator of Disability Services and prevention specialist, was sworn in by Judge John Driscoll in August and became a member of the Juvenile Commission of Westmoreland County.

The Juvenile Commission of Westmoreland County is composed of residents from the community who are of good character and selected on a cross-section basis considering professionals, educators, religious workers, lay people, and business people.

The Juvenile Commission of Westmoreland County was developed to: prevent a first time juvenile offender who commits a minor offense from obtaining a juvenile record; help reduce the burden of juvenile cases in court; provide the juveniles with closer supervision and greater opportunities for re-socialization and readjustment in their own communities; and get the community involved in the rehabilitation for the youth in their home area.
