GREENSBURG, PA— Christine M. Mueseler, Seton Hill University Vice President for Institutional Advancement, was recently appointed by Governor Mark Schweiker to the Pennsylvania Public Television Network Commission (PPTN).

Mueseler commented, “Public television is using technology to provide students in Pennsylvania with equal access to educational opportunities. I look forward to advancing the work of the Commission through my role in higher education. Seton Hill and other institutions continue to find value in new delivery systems afforded by distance learning initiatives. PPTN offers pioneering efforts in this area and works diligently to find new ways to use its telecommunication technologies to assist education efforts.”

A resident of Greensburg, Mueseler has served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Seton Hill since 1998. During her tenure, the University completed its $32 million campaign, the largest fund-raising effort in Seton Hill’s history. In addition, Mueseler developed and implemented a marketing and communication plan for Seton Hill that included a newly designed website and various advertising mediums for the Greensburg campus as it achieved university status in July 2002.

Prior to her role as Vice President, Mueseler served Seton Hill as Director of Development/Campaign Coordinator (1997-1998) and Grants Officer (1994-1996). From 1991-1994, Mueseler worked as Director of Seton Hill’s Folklife Documentation Center for Gender Studies. She also served as Director of the University’s “Raising Our Sites: Women’s History in Pennsylvania,” a program funded through the Pennsylvania Humanities Council (PHC). Mueseler led the Center in its work to tell the stories of individuals across the nine-county region of southwestern Pennsylvania and in its role to inform and involve the large, grass roots audience in the documentation, preservation and interpretation of their heritage. Public programming associated with the project was extensive and included history conferences, an essay contest, a symposium series, and a traveling photographic exhibit that was displayed at 23 sites in the region.

Mueseler holds a Bachelor’s Degree in history from Seton Hill University and a Master of Arts degree in history from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Seton Hill President’s Council and serves on the Board of Directors for the Greensburg Cultural Council and the Westmoreland Heritage Foundation. Mueseler is a member of a number of professional organizations including the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education and the Association of Fund-Raising Professionals. She has presented papers at history conferences sponsored by Duquesne University, Ursinus University, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Humanities Council and the National Folk Festival.
