Congressman Murphy to address American Foreign Policy Class

Greensburg, PA – Congressman Tim Murphy will address Dr. Michael Cary’s American Foreign Policy class at Seton Hill University from 2 – 3:15 on April 15th in Room 308 of the Administration Building on Seton Hill’s campus. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Congressman Tim Murphy began his first term in the United States Congress representing the 18th district of Pennsylvania in January 2003. Previously, he served for six years as a state Senator where he was active in educational improvements and economic development efforts. He was also a leader in promoting health care reform by authoring the state's historic Patients' Bill of Rights.

Congressman Murphy has taken an active role in Congress and serves on three committees in the House of Representatives. He is a member of the Committee on Financial Services, the Committee on Government Reform where he is the vice-chair of the Civil Service and Agency Organization Subcommittee and the Veterans' Affairs Committee where he also participates on the Health Subcommittee. He is also co-chair of the Congressional Mental Health Caucus.

A fierce proponent of the importance of community involvement, Congressman Murphy is a member of several Chambers of Commerce and the Upper St.Clair/Bethel Park Rotary Club. Congressman Murphy also believes that the improvement of parks and an emphasis on cultural activities is important to the vitality of the region. He is a strong advocate of the Rails to Trails program, serves on the board of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and the Children's Museum and is an enthusiastic participant in events for Habitat for Humanity.
