GREENSBURG, PA- John Fogle, Athletic Director at Seton Hill College, announced that Emily Ciak, the daughter of Tom and Caroline Ciak of Hunlock Creek, PA, has accepted a cross-country scholarship. She will begin attending classes in the Fall 2001. “Emily is a hard worker,” Fogle said. “She will be a valuable asset to the team.” A recent graduate of Northwest Area Senior High School, Ciak lettered in basketball, track, field hockey and cross-country. As a cross-country runner she was a three-time state championship runner, three-time cross country All-Star for Division III and was named MVP of Division III as a junior. She was a district medallist in both track and cross-country, and received the Unsung Hero and Defense Awards in basketball. As a student, Ciak won the Hoops and Heroes National Essay Contest and came in fourth place at the Voice of Democracy State Competition. She served as valedictorian for her class, president of the biology club and was a member of the National Honor Society, the Neutron Project and Student Council. “I was really happy with the College when I visited,” Ciak said, who is planning on double majoring in biology and secondary education at Seton Hill. “Everyone was very nice and the set up seems perfect. It’s close to home and, at a small school, I can be a name and not a number.”
