Dr. Michael Arnzen, associate professor of English and Writing Popular Fiction, appears in "The Films of Stephen King," an anthology of academic film criticism just published this month by Palgrave-Macmillan Books. Arnzen's article, "Tonka Terrors," analyzes the only film based on Stephen King's writing that Stephen King has directed himself -- the notorious b-grade horror-comedy, "Maximum Overdrive." Arnzen compares King's film to the "carnival" of the demolition derby, and looks at the class assumptions that underpin the reception of the film. Edited by Tony Magistrale, the world's leading Stephen King scholar, "The Films of Stephen King," is surprisingly the first anthology of film criticism assembled on cinematic adaptations of King -- an author responsible for over 75 films, and whose every title has sold to Hollywood.

Dr. Arnzen has returned to blogging about the praxis and theory of teaching on his website, Pedablogue, at http://blogs.setonhill.edu/MikeArnzen/ His latest fiction collection, Proverbs for Monsters, is currently on the Preliminary Ballot for the Bram Stoker Award.
