Seton Hill University’s Harlan Gallery is proud to present “In Sisterhood: the Women’s Movement in Pittsburgh” from November 6 – November 24, 2008, with a reception to be held on Sunday, November 9 from 1 – 4 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

The “In Sisterhood” exhibit will feature 15 oral histories showcasing the region of Pittsburgh as the birthplace of influential leaders of the women’s movement and as the home to several pioneering feminist organizations. Oral histories include community leaders such as Anita Fine of New Kensington, Pa., who continues to advocate for social justice issues in her community.

The project, which is sponsored by the Thomas Merton Center in Pittsburgh, received a $45,000 award from the Pittsburgh 250 Regional Community Connections program as an initiative that affects large audiences, leaves a lasting impact on communities, and contributes to the pride and progress of southwestern Pennsylvania.

Docent tours of the exhibit will be available upon request. For more information, please contact Harlan Gallery Director Carol Brode at 724-830-1071 or brode@setonhill.edu.
