Demetra Czegan, Ph.D., assistant professor, chemistry, was surprised how quickly the freshman class embraced the iPad in the fall semester.

“Many of my upperclassmen were slow to adopt the iPad, but the freshmen were much more open to the new technology and were excited to use it,” said Czegan.

Czegan noted that her students were always prepared for class as long as they had their iPad since the device holds their necessary handouts, PowerPoint presentations, periodic table and calculator.

“The iPad reduced the amount of paper we use in class. I typically have 30 students in some classes and I have a large amount of handouts,” said Czegan. “Now, all the handouts can be downloaded to the iPad and we do not need to use paper at all.”
