Seton Hill University’s National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education will host a panel discussion of “Nostra Aetate,” the forty-year-old Vatican document upon which its work is based, on Wednesday, February 23 at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in Lynch Lecture Hall on Seton Hill’s Greensburg, Pa. campus and is free and open to the public.

Lois Sculco, S.C., Seton Hill vice president for administration and student life, will moderate the panel, which includes Dr. Abdul Mawjoud Dardery, Seton Hill’s visiting Fulbright Scholar from South Valley University in Egypt (and current “Islam: Religion and Culture” professor at Seton Hill); Rabbi Sara Rae Perman, Congregation Emanu-El Israel and Rev. Roger Statnick, Vicar General, Diocese of Greensburg.

“Nostra Aetate from the Perspective of the Monotheistic Religions” is sponsored by the Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program; Seton Hill’s Humanities Division; the National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education; Seton Hill’s Mission Effectiveness Committee and the Consortium of Educational Resources in Islamic Studies (CERIS).

In addition, Seton Hill University’s National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education is celebrating its 18th (or “Chai”) anniversary on April 7, 2005 at Seton Hill. As part of the “18/40 Celebrating Beginnings” event the Center will present its Fifth Nostra Aetate Award to Rev. John T. Pawlikowski, OSM, PhD at 5 p.m. in St. Joseph Chapel on Seton Hill’s campus. The program is free and open to the public.
