The SHU track and field teams competed at the Slippery Rock open on Thursday with the women finishing 2nd overall and the men finishing 3rd overall in the final team scoring.  On the women's side they were lead by the NCAA Championships automatic qualifying throw of defending national champion Mallory Sanner in the javelin with a mark of 47.61 meters (156-2) which placed her currently 7th in Division 2, Jessica Slagus finished 3rd overall on the day in the javelin with a season best throw of 39.74 meters (130-4), Leah Schott again broke her school record in the 3000m steeple finishing 3rd overall at 11:19.34 barely missing the NCAA provisional time in the event, Vicki Miller broke her school record in the hammer throw with a throw of 48.42m (158-10) 2nd overall and also finished 3rd in the discus and shot put, Jenna Bracken finished 2nd in the 100 hurdles breaking her school record with a time of 14.70, she was also a part of the 4x100m relay that included Jess Adams, Caroline Opferman and Jade Woodridge that finished 4th overall with a season best time of 49.83, Jade Woodridge also finished 7th in the 100m, Caroline Opferman took home a 4th place finish in the long jump, Nichelle McMillan finished 6th in the 400m and 6th in the long jump, Megan Cala finished 7th in the 800m and 6th in the steeple chase, Chelsia Poole finished 4th in the 1500, and Megan Weinreber 8th in the 1500m, Jeannie Bujdos took home the 5000m title on the day and teammate Mary Janak finished 5th overall, Angela McCowin finished 4th in the 100m hurdles and 5th in the 400m hurdles, Alyssa Brandis ran a PSAC qualifying time in the steeple chase finishing 7th overall, Shannon Powell tied for first in the high jump and qualified for the PSAC championships and 5th overall in the triple jump and Toni Davision finished tied for 7th in the pole vault.
