Seton Hill University will celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with an educational program for all members of the Seton Hill community on Thursday, January 27 and a day of community service on Saturday, February 5. (As the majority of Seton Hill’s students do not return to campus from their holiday break until January 24, the University elected to celebrate this holiday after January 17.)

Education Program: “Living the Dream,” Thursday, January 27, 2005

Seton Hill students, faculty and staff will participate in an educational program from 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. in Cecilian Hall featuring a presentation on “Living the Dream” by Seton Hill’s Theatre Department and a reflection guided by Carol Calloway, Special Assistant to the President for Minority & Diversity Affairs, University of Pittsburgh, Greensburg, and Rabbi Sara Perman.

Day of Community Service: “Take the Day On,” Saturday, February 5, 2005

In keeping with Dr. King’s commitment to service, Seton Hill University annually coordinates the “Take the Day On” day of community service for the Seton Hill community in his honor. This year, Seton Hill students, faculty and staff will be volunteering at Auberle, Christian Layman Corps. Thrift Store, St. Emma Monastery, Welcome Home Shelter and Westmoreland Food Bank. The schedule for the day is as follows:

Blessing and event send off for all volunteers: 11:30 – 11:45 a.m., Lowe Dining Hall, Seton Hill
Service at volunteer sites: Noon – 3 p.m.
