GREENSBURG, PA- Seton Hill University is now offering scholarships to talented high school seniors interested in pursuing a major in the Theatre Program of the University’s Visual and Performing Arts Division. The scholarships carry awards of up to $4,000, distributed over four years.

To compete for these scholarships, students must first apply and be admitted to the University. For admittance to the Program, they must either perform an audition or present a portfolio for review and be interviewed by a member of the Theatre faculty.

Auditions should last no longer than three to five minutes and consist of two pieces: a monologue from a full-length play and either a second monologue of a contrasting style or a song, dance or demonstration of another performance skill.

Portfolios should contain drawings, elevations, renderings, notes, programs or photographs of the scenic, costume, make-up or lighting work done for high school or community theatre productions. Examples of other artwork are also welcome.

The application for admission enables the student to be considered not only for theatre scholarships but also for a variety of other scholarships available at Seton Hill. Most Theatre scholarships will be awarded on or about March 1, 2004 and will take effect in the 2004 – 2005 academic year.
