Grant to support Seton Hill’s new Recreation Complex

Greensburg, PA – The directors of The Community Foundation of Westmoreland County and the Greensburg Foundation Fund Distribution Committee have awarded a $10,000 grant to Seton Hill University in support of its new Recreation Complex. The grant represents a response to a challenge grant made to Seton Hill by the Kresge Foundation of Troy, Michigan. The Kresge Challenge Grant, awarded in September 2003, stipulates that Seton Hill raise the final $1,095,280 in contributions needed to complete the $6.7 million project by February 2005. To date, Seton Hill has raised (including the Kresge Challenge Grant) more than $6.5 million from individuals, foundations and corporations and is well on its way toward meeting its Kresge Challenge.

"We are grateful for the continued leadership support of The Community Foundation to Seton Hill,” said Christine Mueseler, Vice President for Institutional Advancement. “Their generous response to The Kresge Challenge brings us a step closer to achieving our goals."

Seton Hill’s 44,000 square-foot Recreation Complex will include a competition basketball arena with 1,000 seats that can be divided into two full-sized practice courts for intramural and recreational use. The Complex will also include a jogging track boasting a stunning view of the Laurel Highlands, a fully equipped fitness/weight room and an aerobics room, all of which will be accessible to students and staff for daily use. The generous proportions of the lobby will provide a welcoming area for athletic event spectators in addition to serving as an event space suitable for hosting gatherings of students and alumni.
