GREENSBURG, PA – As the Seton Hill University Men’s Soccer program jumps into their first season in the American Mideast Conference, Head Coach Dan McCarty continues to build with the best local talent in Westmoreland County. Mike Kruszyna, a senior forward from Hempfield High School, is the latest standout to join the new Griffins soccer program. Kruszyna becomes part of an outstanding recruiting class that includes Penn Trafford’s Eric McKeever and Chris Fawcett.

Kruszyna’s credentials mirror those of Coach McCarty’s other top recruits. A four-year varsity starter, Kruszyna was named All-Section three times. This past season Mike earned All-WPIAL accolades, as well as section Co-Player of the Year in 2002. Kruszyna finished his career at Hempfield with 36 goals and 31 assists.

Kruszyna saw a few advantages in choosing Seton Hill. “It’s very close to home and it has the small college atmosphere I was looking for. With the soccer program being new, there’s an opportunity that is both exciting and challenging to me,” says Kruszyna.

Head Coach Dan McCarty sees Kruszyna being a key ingredient for the Griffins success next year. “His speed is his greatest asset. He will cover a lot of ground for us and will bring a tenacious approach that you don’t see in many high school players,” McCarty says. “We have some outstanding players already with our program. By adding some high caliber recruits, our expectations for next year have risen dramatically.”
