Take a jaunt to Jolly Old England via Romanian-born French absurdist Eugene Ionesco. Drawing its inspiration from an English travel brochure, “The Bald Soprano” parodies the British middle class culture and its meaningless language. Semantics turn pedantic, then macabre in the dark and disturbingly funny companion piece, “The Lesson.” Seldom staged in commercial theatre, Ionesco’s play challenges actors and audiences alike and promises a riotous ride.

The Seton Hill student cast of “The Bald Soprano” and “The Lesson” includes Daniella Choynowski of Lititz, Pa.; Matthew Corridoni of Saltsburg, Pa.; Kathryn Fabbroni of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Matthew Henderson of Irwin, Pa.; Natalie Moretti of Cheswick, Pa.; Christine Rauch of Bethel Park, Pa.; and Christopher Ruffner of Youngwood, Pa.

The Seton Hill student technical staff includes Stage Manager Jasmin Goodman of Springville, Pa.; Assistant Stage Manager Meagan Gemperlein of New Kensington, Pa.; Assistant Stage Manager Anderson Parker of Alexandria, Va.; Assistant Director Matthew Mlynarski of Lower Burrell, Pa.; Lighting Designer R. Alan Knepper of Fort Littleton, Pa.; Assistant Sound Designer Brittany Huffman of Tyrone, Pa.; Wardrobe Manager Jeanette Lundell of Sewickley, Pa.; and Props Manager Amanda Bish of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Seton Hill Theatre’s performance of “The Bald Soprano” and “The Lesson” is directed by Associate Professor of Theatre Denise Pullen. Assistant Theatre Professor Ken Clothier is the technical director and sound designer; Assistant Professor of Theatre Karen Glass is scene designer; and Adjunct Instructor of Theatre Sue O’Neill is costume designer.
