Theatre celebrates itself in this crazy backstage comedy about a San Antonio acting troupe staging Anton Chekhov’s classic play, “Three Sisters.” This cast of characters (all played by females), which includes a wide-eyed would-be, an ambitious, vicious Hollywood hasn’t-been, a male country and western singer, one pickled critic, and two eccentric European directors, gives this play-within-a-play the worldwide appeal that won Martin critical acclaim and the American Theatre Critics/Steinberg New Play Award in 2001. Variety dubbed this play “A smart, acerbic crowd pleaser... Simultaneously a love letter and a poison pen letter to the American theatre.”

The Seton Hill student cast of “Anton in Show Business” includes Laura Barron of Grove City, Pa.; Kristy Bissell of Canonsburg, Pa.; Chelsea Bloam of St. Mary’s, Pa.; Adriana Gissendanner of Clairton, Pa.; Brittany Huffman of Tyrone, Pa.; Sarah Laughland of Frederick, Md.; and Jeanette Lundell of Sewickley, Pa.

The Seton Hill student technical staff includes Nate Errett of North Huntingdon, Pa. as stage manager; Katie Ingram of Springdale, Pa. and Maria Bruno of Apollo, Pa. as assistant stage managers; and Matt Mlynarski of Lower Burrell, Pa. as props master.

Seton Hill Theatre’s performance of “Anton in Show Business” is directed by Dr. Terry Brino-Dean, director of the Seton Hill theatre program. Ken Clothier, Seton Hill theatre assistant professor and technical director, is the technical director and sound designer for “Anton in Show Business,” and Karen Glass, assistant professor of theatre, is set designer. Deborra Bergmark-Peelor serves as guest lighting designer.
