The Seton Hill University Dance Academy (SHUDA) brought home multiple trophies from regional dance competitions during its first year of existence in the 2005-2006 school year, including gold medals in the International Dance Challenge, Showstopper, I Love Dance and Starpower competitions.

Open auditions are being held for this year’s competition and performance dance groups on Saturday, September 9 in the Saint Mary Hall Dance Studio on Seton Hill’s Greensburg, Pa. campus. (This year’s performance group will present Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen” at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center.)

Audition times are as follows:

Competition Group: registration at 9:30 a.m.; 8 – 10 yrs. of age, 10 – 10:45 a.m.; 11 + yrs. of age, 11 – noon.
Performance Group: registration at 11:30 a.m., 8 – 10 yrs. of age, noon – 12:45 p.m.; 11+ yrs. of age, 1 – 2 p.m.

Registrations are also still being accepted for all community dance classes, beginner to advanced, beginning Sept. 13. Classes include Classical Ballet, Pre-Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Tumbling, Pointe, Lyrical, and Modern.
