On Saturday, September 17, Seton Hill University participated in the American Heart Walk Westmoreland County Heart Walk. More than 140 Seton Hill University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) students, faculty, staff and members of administration participated in the walk and raised $3,226.

Janice Beckage, coordinator of health education and staff nurse at Seton Hill, took part in this event because of a heart related death in her family. “My mother passed away young,” stated Beckage. “This heart walk allows me to take place in an event to help others become aware of the many heart related diseases.”

The one mile walk began at Lynch Hall. Participants walked through the Seton Hill campus to Caritas Christi, the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill, where Sisters of Charity greeted participants and distributed bottles of water. From Caritas Christi, participants traveled to Our Lady’s Grotto. They completed the loop at Saint Mary’s Hall and finished at Lynch Hall.
