Seton Hill University’s Communication Honor Society, Phi Gamma, presents “A Conversation with Kelley Murray Skoloda,” partner and director of global brand marketing practice at Ketchum Public Relations, on Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m. in Reeves Theatre, which is located on the University’s hilltop campus in Greensburg, Pa. Skoloda will begin the conversation with her unique perspective on the practice of public relations in this challenging first decade of the millennium and beyond. The scope of her experience in communication spans more than two decades at Ketchum, a top ten global communication agency. She is the author of “Too Busy to Shop: Marketing to ‘Multi-Minding’ Women,” which highlights the challenges of marketing to women.

According to Jack Ciak, Sc.D. assistant professor and faculty advisor for Seton Hill’s communication honor society, “The communication students are thrilled to have Kelley Skoloda share her public relations and marketing communication expertise. Following her initial remarks, Ms. Skoloda will engage in a conversation with the audience and respond to submitted questions. We are hoping that anyone with an interest in public relations and marketing communication, whether it be here in western Pennsylvania or anywhere around the world, will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Recognized as an authority on marketing to women, Skoloda was named one of the most influential women in business in the Pittsburgh region by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in its “Women at the Helm” special edition in 2006. She served on the advisory board for Pink magazine and was featured in a BBC-produced television show, “Beat the Boss,” which was aired in 2009 on the BBC. Skoloda, who is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), was recognized in 2009 with the Renaissance Hall of Fame Award from the PRSA Pittsburgh chapter.

Skoloda, a 2001 Distinguished Alumna of Seton Hill University, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in management from Seton Hill, and currently sits on the University’s Board of Trustees. Skoloda earner her Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh Katz Graduate School of Business.

Seton Hill University’s Phi Gamma Chapter of the National Communication Association’s Honor Society, Lambda Pi Eta, was established in 2006. Lambda Pi Eta has over 400 active chapters at four-year colleges and universities worldwide.

The goals of Lambda Pi Eta are to recognize, foster, and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies; stimulate interest in the field of communication; promote and encourage professional development among communication majors; provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication; establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students; and to explore options for graduate education in communication studies.
