Greensburg, Pa. – Dr. Lee McClain, director of Seton Hill 's Master of Arts in Writing Popular Fiction program, has recently published “My Abnormal Life,” the second book in the Alternate Life series, which features a magic computer game that shows foster and adopted teens what life would have been like with their birth families.

“My Abnormal Life” features a teen who loves books and writing, partly as an escape from her impoverished life. When she moves to an affluent foster family and begins to bond with other teens, she starts to write for the school paper--and finds her passion writing about special education and foster care, issues central to her own family's challenges.

In conjunction with the release of “My Abnormal Life,” McClain designed a writing workshop for teens, which she recently debuted at the Greensburg Barnes & Noble on March 15. McClain will present her workshop this summer to 50+ foster teens as part of the North American Council on Adoptable Children's national conference, which will be held in Pittsburgh the first week of August.

“I decided to do a writing workshop for teens because I think writing can help teens, like the protagonist from ‘My Abnormal Life,’ solve their own problems,” says McClain. “Also, teens have a passion for life that can make their writing spectacular, but most teens don't get started early enough.”
