Seton Hill University has elected three prominent community leaders in business and health care to its Board of Trustees: Margaret DiVirgilio, Patricia Acquaviva Gabow, M.D. and Kym Stout Hamilton.

“We are pleased that these three talented and highly-accomplished women have agreed to join the Seton Hill board,” said Mary C. Finger, Ed.D, Seton Hill president. “Margaret, Patricia and Kym bring tremendous knowledge and experience to Seton Hill, and I look forward to working with them to advance our University.”

Margaret DiVirgilio serves as the Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer for Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC). She is a member of a six-person Company Senior Executive Team and an Officer Director of the corporation.

Margaret is a member of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA). She has been an active member of the NDIA Procurement Division and Contract Finance Committee since 2002. She serves as a Trustee of the NDIA Board of Directors and Chair of the Audit Committee. Margaret currently serves on the NDIA Procurement Executive Committee and is a past Chair of the NDIA Contract Finance Committee. In 2014, Margaret received the Howard H. Cork Memorial Award for her distinguished service to the NDIA’s Procurement Division.

Margaret is a member of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA), serving on the Board of Advisors and is a member of Women in Defense (WID), a National Security Organization and affiliate of NDIA, where she has served as past president and on the Board of Directors for eight consecutive years.

She is also a board member of the Women and Girls Foundation in Pittsburgh and was chair of the Parish Leadership Team for the “Today’s Challenge, Tomorrow’s Hope” fundraising campaign at Our Lady of Grace Parish in Greensburg, Pa. She serves as the Chair of Bishop Emeritus Lawrence E. Brandt’s Commission for the Diocesan Heritage Center. Margaret earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Seton Hill and was named a Distinguished Alumna of the University in 2010. She received her CPA certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Patricia Gabow, MD, a national leader in hospital reform and public health care delivery, serves on the Board of Trustees of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She considers herself a health care leader for vulnerable populations.

Listed as one of Modern Healthcare magazine’s 50 Most Powerful Physician Executives in Health Care (2007, 2009), Patricia currently serves on several health care and health policy commissions, including the federal Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) and the National Governors’ Association Health Advisory Board. Previously she served on the Commonwealth Fund Commission on a High Performing Health System and the Institute of Medicine committee addressing the future viability of safety net providers and continues to serve as a member of the IOM Roundtable on Value & Science Driven Healthcare. She also was chair of the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems.

A nephrologist by training, Patricia retired in 2012 after 20 years as CEO of Denver Health and Hospital Authority (DHHA), an integrated health care system serving one of the poorest populations in the state of Colorado. She is credited with transforming DHHA from a struggling public hospital system into a national model of integrated, fiscally stable, and high-quality care. One of the hallmarks of Patricia’s leadership was her introduction of business-based improvement methods to streamline operations, increase employee satisfaction, and develop new information technology systems, resulting in the elimination of wasteful spending while significantly enhancing patient care.

Patricia earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from Seton Hill and was named a Distinguished Alumna of the University in 1990. She earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and received its Distinguished Graduate Award in 2015. She is Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She has authored over 150 papers, book chapters and books.
