Francesca Cantarini, Seton Hill University Class of 1999, presented the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill with 70 handmade blankets on Saturday, June 6, at Caritas Christi, the motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity.

Cantarini, of Philadelphia, Pa., coordinated the project, “Warm Their Hearts,” as part of a seminar she is taking through the Self Expression and Leadership Program. She organized a handmade blanket/quilt collection for the retired sisters who reside at Caritas Christi. Cantarini requested handmade blankets and quilts from family, friends, and Seton Hill University alumni.

“The Sisters of Charity transformed generations of women, including myself. The intention of the project is simply to honor these women, who give their lives to the service of others, with a small token of appreciation,” said Cantarini.

“We appreciate Francesca’s continued commitment to service and the Sisters of Charity. ‘Warm Their Hearts’ is a wonderful project for friends of the Sisters of Charity to re-connect with us,” said Sister Vivien Linkhauer, S.C., provincial superior.

Cantarini presented the blankets to the sisters immediately following a communion service in the Chapel of the Assumption at Caritas Christi. This activity was part of Seton Hill University’s Alumni Weekend held June 5-7.

“I want this project to extend beyond Alumni Weekend. I hope I will be receiving and delivering blankets to the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill for years to come,” said Cantarini.

Cantarini teaches eighth grade English in Philadelphia, Pa.
