Recital: Seton Hill University’s Community Music Program will host recitals on January 18 and 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Carol Ann Reichgut Concert Hall, on the main floor of the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center located at 100 Harrison Avenue in Greensburg, Pa. Art Exhibit: Seton Hill University’s Harlan Gallery will present an exhibit showcasing the work of students from January 24-February 21. “Little Women”: The Seton Hill University Theatre and Dance Program will present the musical “Little Women,” music by Jason Howland, lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and adapted from the novel by Louisa May Alcott, February 22-March 2, in the William Granger Ryan Theatre, Performing Arts Center, 100 Harrison Avenue, Greensburg, Pa. The beloved story of the March sisters takes the audience on an adventure with Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy as they discover the thrill of independence, the mysteries of love and the job and sorrows of family in this musical adaptation of an American classic. Led by the irrepressible Jo, the March sisters struggle with the heartache of the Civil war and the power of their own dreams.

“Little Women” will be directed by Seton Hill Distinguished Alumnus Shawn Sturnick (’89).

“The Spilling Ink Project”: The Seton Hill University Theatre and Dance Program will present “The Spilling Ink Project” on March 2, at 8 p.m. in the Carol Ann Reichgut Concert Hall, on the main floor of the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center, 100 Harrison Avenue, Greensburg, Pa. “The Spilling Ink Project” weaves memorable tales from Indian folklore and mythology that unfold through rich, traditional South Indian classical dance forms. An intricate language of hand gestures combined with dramatic facial expressions will take the audience on a colorful journey to India. Music, colorful costumes and narration embellishes the program. This is an engaging and interactive performance that allows participants of all ages to learn about India and its culture. Vijay Palaparty and Nalini Prakash are renowned artists from the United States and India whose performances and outreach programs tour widely.

Kevin M. McManus holds a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from Penn State University, a graduate performer’s certificate from the Sate University of New York Purchase Conservatory, and a Master of Music degree from Carnegie Mellon University. McManus has performed on Broadway and completed two first national tours of the shows “Urinetown: the Musical” and “Little Women the Broadway Musical.” In the summer of 2009, McManus was a featured soloist in Pittsburgh’s Civic Light Opera production of “Swing!” He has performed with such artists as: Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra Jr., Josh Groban, Wayne Newton, Frankie Vallie and The Four Seasons, Aretha Franklin, Pattie LaBelle, Glen Campbell, Maureen McGovern, Isaac Hayes, Lou Rawls, Gloria Gaynor,The Temptations, The Four Tops, Don Rickles, Regis Philban and The Manhattan Transfer. He has performed with the Pittsburgh and Wheeling Symphony Orchestras and the River City and Reunion Brass Bands. McManus is the founder and leader of: The Bone Forum, a jazz 10 trombone ensemble with rhythm section, The Collective Jazz Octet, a swingin’ eight piece jazz chamber ensemble and The Pittsburgh Trombone Project. He can be seen internationally on PBS’s “My Music” and “American Soundtrack Series.” McManus is currently a faculty member at of Seton HIll University, Waynesburg University, Frostburg State University and Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School.

Concert: Seton Hill University’s Westmoreland Symphonic Winds will present “Revisiting the Classics” on March 17 at 3 p.m. in the Carol Ann Reichgut Concert Hall on the main floor of the Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center located at the corner at 100 Harrison Avenue in Greensburg, Pa. The first concert of 2013 features a repertoire of Gustav Holst’s “First Suite for Band,” Percy Grainger’s “Colonial Song” and “Introit” by Fisher Tull.

The Westmoreland Symphonic Winds will close its 27th season with the music of pilgrims, Pittsburgh, psalms and patriots. Ron Nelson’s “Mayflower Overture” depicts the pilgrims’ travel to the New World. Pittsburgh’s own Joseph Wilcox Jenkins is featured in his “Tartan Suite.” Minnesota composer John Zdechlik’s “Psalm 46” celebrates a famous Lutheran hymn. The concert will close with “America the Beautiful.”
